SHOCKWAVE
THERAPY AT LONG BRANCH REHAB

STRONGER.
FASTER.
LIGHTER.

BETTER.

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves delivering a series of low energy sound wave pulsation to the site of injury. It works by stimulating a local anti-inflammatory response to allow body to start healing naturally. This is done by causing changes in cellular level – stimulating production of free radicals to stimulate production of metabolites to prevent pain; vascular level – stimulating creation of new capillaries; muscular level – reducing contractile activity; pain level – acting on skin nerve receptors to block painful stimuli delivery to the brain. Therefore is it not uncommon to feel temporary soreness, tenderness and swelling in the local area. It is important not to take any anti-inflammatory medications post treatment, as it will hinder the results.

Our chiropractor and physiotherapist will use this modality in conjunction with other techniques during the session. They will also assess if you are a suitable candidate for this treatment.
